ASBESTOS
Once widely used as a building material, asbestos is now a well-known health hazard.
Although the use of asbestos as a building material is illegal, many buildings in the Netherlands still contain white asbestos (Chrysotile), blue asbestos (Crocidolite) and brown asbestos (Amosite). HEAVY METALS
Long-term exposure to hexavalent chromium compounds, lead and other toxic heavy metals is detrimental to human health.

ORGANIC AND CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS
Organic or chemical compounds such as PCBs, PFOS, PAHs and PFOA are used in everyday products.
Notwithstanding their fire retardant, dirt-repellent and other positive properties, the common denominator of these chemical and organic substances is their harmful environmental impact. They are hardly biodegradable. During production, use and waste disposal they can easily enter the environment, explaining the high percentages in human and animal food chains.
