    Our Services

    HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

Asbestos, heavy metals including hexavalent chromium and organic pollutants such as PCBs are detrimental to the environment.

Exposure to such materials and substances in everyday life, for instance via the food chain, must be prevented. The risks these materials pose when working with them are not always clear-cut. This is why a Risk Assessment and Evaluation of hazardous materials and substances is sometimes compulsory and always advisable. SGI Compliance helps, offering consultancy, risk assessment, removal and, if necessary, monitoring to permanently secure a safe working environment.

    WATER SAFETY

Drinking water is essential to life and may not in any way pose a risk to public health.

In accordance with international regulations, the Dutch government and water companies have set specific standards for the quality of drinking water, and also for warm tap water, swimming water, etc. Pathogens, such as the Legionella bacterium, can grow rapidly in warm or stagnant water in water supply systems. Regular checks are vital. SGI Compliance counsels, supports and supervises organisations, keeping drinking or swimming water healthy and safe.

    INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

Indoor environmental quality greatly affects our health and the way we experience our home and workplace.

Providing a healthy and safe workplace is part of employers’ Health & Safety obligations. It also contributes to overall business performance. Research shows that improvement of the indoor environment reduces sickness absence and increases productivity. Taking samples is one of the ways in which SGI Compliance measures, assesses and helps improve indoor environmental quality. From micro-organisms, CO2 levels, temperature, humidity and particulate matter concentrations to light and noise.

    FIRE SAFETY

Both the owner and users have a duty of care to ensure a building’s fire safety.

Fire safety of buildings is largely regulated by law. To deal with potential fire hazards, fire extinguishing equipment, up-to-date evacuation plans and emergency floor plans are indispensable. These must have been tested and be ready-for-use. SGI Compliance supports both the owner and the user with Fire Risk Scans, comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments, evacuation plans and floor maps. Services also include consultancy on optimising fire safety.

    MARITIME & OFFSHORE SERVICES

Taking a ship out of service is subject to international regulations, including those of the International Maritime Organization.

During the ship’s life cycle – from construction and operation to scrapping – the use of hazardous materials is monitored in accordance with the Inventory of Hazardous Materials, securing safe recycling. Located near the Port of Rotterdam and backed up by its international network, SGI Compliance offers specialist support. Services include asbestos and HazMat surveys, consultancy and training programmes. For all types of vessels, offshore platforms and maritime constructions.
